Postfly

Postfly has been shipping fly fishing boxes from Newbury, Massachusetts since 2013, and claims more than 100,000 fly fishing enthusiasts as customers. It is the largest operator left in a category that has thinned considerably.

The proposition is narrow on purpose. Rather than a general outdoor box, Postfly sends flies chosen for a species and a season, with guide notes explaining what they are for and when to fish them.

How the Subscription Runs

Billing falls on the 1st and boxes ship around the 5th. All subscription changes have to be made by the 1st, which is the date to know.

Pausing and cancelling are both self-service from the account, and the company states you can cancel any time after your first box has shipped.

What We Would Flag

Its Trustpilot profile reads oddly at first glance: 70% of its reviews are five star, yet the score sits at 3.2. Trustpilot weights recent reviews more heavily, so a score well below the raw distribution means the recent flow has been worse than the historic one. The review flow has also slowed.

The complaints that recur are about reaching a human and about subscription changes not taking effect. Against that, the company is visibly active: its monthly guide content was published through September 2026.

There is no BBB profile for Postfly, so Trustpilot is the only independent record available, and the box cannot be an Editor’s Choice regardless of its score.
